Everyone who lives in Philly knows that there’s nothing like the downtown culture of our nation’s first capital. So what better way to celebrate such a culture than by attending the annual 2nd Street Festival this Sunday? Finish off the weekend by checking out the awesome event that will have beer gardens, workshops, food, and art! Not to mention 4 stages with music going all day. 2nd Street will be blocked off between Germantown and Fairmount in Northern Liberties between noon and 10 PM, Hopefully we’ll see you there!! It’s back! The 28th Annual summer “Taste of Lincoln Avenue” will take place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Get ready for a weekend filled with food, fun, and lots of great music (Sister Hazel is performing!). Not to mention the free kid’s carnival, fully equipped with rides and a petting zoo. For all you crafters out there, this year is the first appearance of the Lill Street Craft Fair from Noon-dusk each day. So don’t miss out! Admission to the festival is free. Are you a fan of classic movies? Well, if you haven’t taken advantage of the Old Pasadena Film Festival yet, this weekend is your last chance! Every weekend since July 7, Old Pasadena Management has screened multiple movies – ranging from Clueless to Invasion of the Body Snatchers – for the public for free at multiple outdoor venues. This weekend will wrap up the festival. Here’s the list of the movies for this weekend and location information.
Tonight: The 1951 Oscar-winning classic, A Place in the Sun starring Elizabeth Taylor will be shown at the One Colorado Courtyard (41 Hugus Alley) at 8:45 PM.
Tomorrow (Saturday): Cary Grant’s An Affair to Remember, also at One Colorado Courtyard at 8:45 PM. The famous Hitchcock film The Birds will be shown at Central Park (275 S. Raymond Avenue) at 8:45 PM. Chairs will not be provided in Central Park so make sure top bring a blanket or chairs of your own! Enjoy! If you need more info you can find it here.
Think you have what it takes to be on So You Think You Can Dance? Well, even if you don’t, this event if for you. The show has proclaimed Saturday, July 30 as “National Dance Day,” and all around the nation events will provide free (a donation is recommended) dance classes to teach 3 dances choreographed by some of SYTYCD‘s own judges and choreographers. These classes will span all skill levels, so if you’re in the Austin area and want to learn a fun dance routine, make it out to Ballet Austin’s Butler Dance Education Center on Saturday. You can see the schedule for your skill level here. This can be a great way to learn some new moves and to burn some calories!
